Tall bird and Small bird (speed paint)

The Tall bird and it's baby the Small bird are just examples of some of the monsters from Don't starve. The tall birds are aggressive and will attack anything that not only threatens them but also their nests.

this images is pure water color paints and took about 5 minutes to draw and 15-20 to paint.

My scanner left out some of the detail but computers can't match the human eye when it comes to seeing things. The purple and black was a bit of a challenge because I had to start out light and work my way to dark so the purple alone took about 4-5 layers of paint. the black took about 6-7 layers plus the mixing of black and purple which took about 3. the Eye was the most interesting part because I had to look up the small birds eye color since the adult was hard to determine. I didn't want the eye to be pure yellow so i added a touch of red (it looks like orange but it's red with a bit of water to soften it up) to not only add more detail but to add a slight warmth to it. The beak is purplish pink mixed with a bit of black and white for shading purposes.
